What makes you uniquely YOU?

I am a BOSS BABE. I am a Go-Getter, I am a woman who cannot be stopped. I on a mission to spread my sparkle onto the world.

What made you decide to make Cincinnati home?

I’ve stayed in Cincinnati so long because my support system is here. Not only that but Cincinnati has opportunity and needs I saw I could fill and build a business.

What do you love most about the Cincinnati Region?

What I love most about the Cincinnati Region is the resources and opportunities for your personal and business growth.

After a long week of work, what energizes you?

Self-care relaxes me after a long work week. Being able to charge back up my battery and reflect on the week I previously had.

Looking at your professional career, outside of family and friends, where have you garnered your support?

I’ve garnered the most support from my community. As an entrepreneur I’ve learned that people who you think will support you don’t, and the people you never knew – would. I’ve been also been very blessed to have a lot of great mentors who have pushed and challenged me out of my comfort zone.

What is your most proud moment in recent history?

My most proud moment in recent history has been embarking on a 17-city national book tour for “Finding My Sparkle.” Not only that but getting a phenomenal sponsor such as P&G beauty on board that believes and supports my story and my mission of empowering women and young girls around the world.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind?

The legacy I hope to leave behind is knowing that I made an impact – knowing that what I’m doing means something to someone.

How do you define success?

Success is defined by the impact I’ve made on others. The money is great, because we need that to pay bills ☺ but knowing that my life’s work has ultimately saved someone’s life, encouraged them to keep going, apply for that dream career or start that business – means the world to me. That is success.

What is your advice for emerging African American leaders?

To go out and get it! No one owes you anything, you have to break down doors or build your own to walk through. Keep pushing every day until you see the needle move – set the example instead of waiting for someone else.

What does Cincinnati as a “future city” mean to you?

A future city means to me, where people flock to Cincinnati in order to work, play and live. A city where we have opportunities and events like the bigger regions/cities surrounding us. It also includes a more diverse city, culturally where we embrace all walks of life.

What piece of advice have you received along the way in your career or life journey that has stuck with you?

The biggest piece of advice that I have received along the way is “Only you can stop you!”

Tell us about something that most people do not know about you.

Most people do not know that I used to be very shy and introverted. It took my 27 years to fully love and accept myself no matter what.

In what ways are you involved in the Cincinnati community outside of your professional endeavors?

I am on the African American Board Chamber of Commerce Board, The Queen City Foundation Board. I have partnership with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio called the MAO Sparkle Squad to help recruit more adult volunteers for young girls of color. I’m active with my sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha, I am a member of the Links, Inc. Cincinnati Chapter. I also do workshops with Families Forward helping girls with their confidence and self-esteem.
