UC Health is Greater Cincinnati’s adult academic health system—where world-class care, groundbreaking research and the next generation of medicine come together to transform health and improve life within our community.
In honor of 5-1-3 Day, UC Health is announcing its first-ever Cincy Sweats Week, a region-wide fitness initiative offering more than 25 free classes at 20 local gyms and studios across Greater Cincinnati, beginning May 11.
As Greater Cincinnati’s only adult academic health system, UC Health is also hosting free community fitness events as part of the weeklong celebration. These include a family-friendly Bearcat Bootcamp at UC’s Nippert Stadium, welcoming all ages onto the field for an inclusive workout, and a 5-1-3 Day community event on May 13 at Washington Park, featuring free fitness classes, smoothie bowls, health screenings, the Hamilton County 513 Relief Bus and other giveaways.
Cincy Sweats invites residents to get moving together through a week of beginner-friendly classes designed to support physical health, confidence- and community connection. All classes are free and open to the public. Participants will receive an exclusive Cincy Sweats towel and be entered to win additional custom merchandise. Classes span three movement styles:
MOVE — High energy, strength and cardio-focused workouts
STRETCH — Restorative classes aimed at mobility, recovery and balance
PLAY — Fun, social movement experiences centered on community
Cincy Sweats responds to a growing need for more movement for residents across Greater Cincinnati. Less than half of Cincinnati residents engage in regular moderate physical activity, while sedentary behavior continues to increase. Regular movement plays a critical role in preventing and managing chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and stroke, two of the leading causes of illness and disability locally.
“Our purpose at UC Health is to transform health and improve life for our patients and our region,” shared Cory Shaw, UC Health president and CEO. “Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have to change health and reverse chronic disease at scale. Cincy Sweats brings this accessible medicine directly into our community, making a healthier life possible.”
As a Top 10 employer in the region, UC Health is a proud Momentum Member of the Cincinnati Chamber. UC Health employees across multiple departments including Government Affairs, Educational Placements, Communications, and Community Health regularly attend Chamber programmed events. UC Health’s CAO, Katrina English, serves as a member of the Board for the Cincinnati Chamber. In 2025, UC Health began serving as a sponsor of the State of the Region: Community Health Indicators section.
