Women of Color in Tech

Supported by JPMorgan Chase, Women of Color in Tech leverages Google Career Certificates to help women in the Cincinnati region upskill or reskill to launch careers in tech.

What is Women of Color in Tech?

Through a grant from JPMorgan Chase and support from Google, the Cincinnati Regional Chamber and the Workforce Innovation Center are partnering with the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, Community Action Agency – Cincinnati | Hamilton County (CAA), Brighton Center, and the Gaskins Foundation to offer Women of Color in Tech. The program helps women of color in the Cincinnati region prepare for new careers in high-growth fields by offering Google Career Certificates paired with wrap-around support.

The Women of Color in Tech partners offer free 12-week training programs to prepare women for roles in cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing & e-commerce, IT support, project management, and UX design. The programs are designed to meet participants where they are with flexible, virtual and in-person options – as well as childcare. Once complete, partners will facilitate employer interviews tailored to each participant to help them secure a job that best fits their new skillset, personal needs, and career aspirations.

IT Support Certification

Become a specialist who troubleshoots problems so computers and networks run correctly. After you complete this certification, you will understand the core concepts of IT support, including troubleshooting customer service issues, networking, system administration, operating systems, and security. You will know the basics of how to assemble a computer, write effective support documentation, route paths and subnets, manage device software, and more!

Data Analytics Certification

After completing this certification, you will have a working knowledge of essential data analysis platforms — including spreadsheets, SQL, Tableau, and R programming — and when to use them in the data life cycle. You will also have an understanding of how to translate a business question into a data analysis exercise and to distill findings into actionable takeaways. Google’s beginner Data Analytics Certificate has become the most popular Professional Certificate on Coursera globally.

Cybersecurity Certification

Become a cybersecurity specialist who helps organizations monitor and protect networks, devices, people, and data. You will get hands on experience using Python, Linux, SQL, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, and intrusion detection systems. The Google Cybersecurity Certificate helps prepare you for the CompTIA Security+ exam, the industry leading certification for cybersecurity roles. You’ll earn a dual credential when you complete both.

Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Certification

This certificate gives you hands-on practice using popular digital marketing and e-commerce tools such as Canva, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, HubSpot, MailChimp, Shopify, Twitter, Google Ads, and Google Analytics.

Project Management Certification

Become a project manager who ensures projects within an organization are managed and completed with maximum value. You will know how to run traditional and Agile projects and programs from initiation to completion. You will possess a toolbox of templates and artifacts to manage an array of scenarios and project elements, like schedules, budgets, and product requirements. You will also understand organizational structure, process improvement, risk management techniques, and communication and leadership styles. Upon completion, you’ll be eligible for over 100 education hours to qualify for PMI certifications.

UX Design Certification

Become a user experience (UX) designer who makes digital and physical products easier and more enjoyable to use. You will also build portfolio websites to showcase projects, including a mobile app, a responsive website, and
a cross-platform experience.
