In early September, the Cincinnati Regional Chamber led a delegation of 45 business and civic leaders to Washington, D.C. for our annual Fly-In. The three-day trip consisted of advocating for our region’s priorities and gaining first-hand insights into the current political climate in the nation’s capital.
Our delegation met with Senators Moreno and Husted of Ohio, as well as Senators McConnell and Paul of Kentucky. We also met with the majority of our Congressional representatives from the Cincinnati region, including Representatives Landsman (OH-1), Taylor (OH-2), Davidson, and Congressmen Carey (OH-15, Columbus area), Miller (OH-7, Cleveland area) and Turner (OH-10, Dayton area). These conversations focused on issues related to tariffs, childcare policy, infrastructure investments, health care, and economic development. We also hosted productive meetings with senior White House officials, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and did a deep dive on federal housing policies with the Bipartisan Policy Center’s J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy
Housing was a key theme across our meetings, where we heard time and again about the urgent need for federal action to increase the nation’s housing supply. Congressional leaders consistently emphasized that housing is a top priority in Washington, and a bipartisan issue. Senator Bernie Moreno, a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, highlighted the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, which recently passed committee unanimously — a rare show of consensus. Our delegation also met with Senate staff involved in drafting the bill, gaining valuable insight into the development of national housing policy.
Following the trip, the Cincinnati Regional Chamber reviewed the ROAD to Housing Act and the impact this federal legislation would have on our region. Coming out of our annual Fly- In and those discussions, the Chamber has officially endorsed this legislation and will advocate for its passage in Congress.
The Cincinnati Regional Chamber remains committed to advancing federal solutions that address key regional challenges. Through strong relationships with federal leaders and policy experts, the Chamber ensures the Cincinnati region’s voice is heard in Washington and that our business community stays informed and engaged on the policies shaping our region’s future.
