Cost Saving Programs

Workers’ Compensation

ChamberComp™, in partnership with Sheakley, offers group discount programs for Chamber Members. Combined across our more than 30-year partnership, these two programs have saved Cincinnati Chamber members over $1 billion in Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation premiums.

Workers' Compensation for Businesses

If you operate a business in Ohio and employ one or more people, you’re required by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) to carry workers’ compensation coverage. This legal requirement safeguards both your employees and your business.

Sheakley has been partnering with the Cincinnati Regional Chamber since 1992 to help save member businesses over $1 billion on their workers’ compensation premiums.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Sheakley provides comprehensive, expert claims management through a team-based service model. Dedicated to serving the best interests of Cincinnati businesses, Sheakley reviews each company to identify and evaluate every potential savings opportunity. Our representatives are experts at recognizing pre-existing conditions that can help reduce employer premiums. As a leader in filing disability relief for pre-existing conditions, Sheakley is committed to uncovering every opportunity to maximize your savings.

Savings for Chamber Members

Group Rating Program (Discount on Your Premiums)

Save immediately on each premium payment to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC).

  • You receive a discount that appears directly on your premium statement — up to 53 % (for private-employer groups).
  • The better your claims history, the higher your potential discount.
  • Enrollment is subject to program eligibility (active coverage, similar business operations, no outstanding balances) and must be completed by the BWC deadline.

More than 3,400 participating companies in the Cincinnati Regional Chamber’s program have saved a combined $14.7 million — an average savings of just over $4,300 per company.

Group Rating Deadline: November 21, 2025

Group Retrospective Program (Refund Based on Performance)

If your company may not qualify for the highest group rating discount due to past claims, the Group Retro program offers an alternative: a look-back refund rather than an upfront discount.

  • Participants pay the full BWC premium initially, and after 12, 24 and 36 months the BWC reviews the group’s combined claims experience. If the group performs well, participants receive a refund.
  • Because this is performance-based, actual refunds depend on the collective results of the group; in rare cases, an assessment may apply if claims costs exceed expectations.

Over 560 Cincinnati Regional Chamber participants are projected to receive refunds totaling over $14.4 million, with an average of more than $24,400 per company.

Group Retro Deadline: January 29, 2026
Qualifying members can earn additional BWC rebates of 3% by participating in our Greater Cincinnati Safety Council for FREE.

Additional Workers' Compensation Solutions

Managed Care Organization

Sheakley’s Managed Care Organization (MCO) coordinates medical care for injured workers, helping employers control costs while ensuring employees receive appropriate treatment. New employers in Ohio have 30 days to select an MCO; if no selection is made, the BWC will assign one. As a Chamber partner, Sheakley is recognized as a preferred MCO for Ohio employers.

Risk & Safety Solutions

Sheakley is a trusted Cincinnati-based partner helping Ohio employers strengthen their safety programs and better manage workers’ compensation costs. Their Risk & Safety Solutions team supports companies with implementing the BWC’s Substance Use Prevention & Recovery Program, managing DOT drug & alcohol and driver qualification file requirements, and maintaining OSHA Recordkeeping compliance. Sheakley also provides safety staffing services to ensure jobsites remain safe and staffed with qualified professionals. Together, these services help create safer workplaces and more effective workers’ compensation programs.

Modified Duty Off-Site

Sheakley helps employers support injured workers and control workers’ compensation costs through their Modified Duty Off-Site Services (MDOS) program. For companies that struggle to accommodate light-duty work restrictions, Sheakley provides both on-site and virtual transitional job placements with approved nonprofit organizations. These opportunities allow employees to stay engaged and productive while they recover, promoting faster return-to-work outcomes. By offering flexible options and expert program management, Sheakley helps employers reduce claim costs and maintain BWC program participation.
