WE Thrive

WE Thrive is a program designed for young professionals with fewer than 8 years of experience, aiming to enhance self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills.

What is WE Thrive?

WE Thrive is a 6-session leadership development program designed for young professionals with fewer than 8 years of experience. Through engaging sessions on topics facing women in our community such as mindfulness, establishing healthy work/life boundaries, and cultivating a network of mentors and allies, participants will gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in their career paths while embracing their authentic selves. The program fosters a supportive community to empower professionals as they navigate early career challenges and opportunities.

Program Objectives

  • Empower participants to build self-awareness and strengthen emotional intelligence for effective decision-making and interpersonal relationships.
  • Introduce practical approaches to establish work/life boundaries that promote balance and long-term success.
  • Guide participants in developing meaningful connections with mentors and allies to enhance career development.
  • Inspire participants to embrace their unique leadership potential and confidently navigate professional challenges.
  • Create a supportive environment that fosters collaboration, networking, and shared growth among emerging women leaders.


Target Participants
Leaders with less than 8 years of experience. All are encouraged to apply. 

Curriculum

  • 5 professionally facilitated small group coaching sessions

  • Assessments, discussions, and exposure to thought leaders

  • Two personal coaching sessions

Class 1 Timeframe:

  • June 26, 2025 – Kickoff (8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
  • July 10, 2025 – Retreat/Session 1 (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) | Mandatory
  • July 31, 2025 – Session 2 (8:30 a.m. -Noon)
  • August 7, 2025 – Session 3 (8:30 a.m. -Noon)
  • August 21, 2025 – Session 4 (8:30 a.m. -Noon)
  • September 18, 2025 – Session 5 (8:30 a.m. -Noon)
  • October 2, 2025 – Graduation (2 – 5 p.m.)

Applications for Class 1 open January 7 and close March 11, 2025.

Program Fees

$2,500 for Chamber Members

$3,500 for non Chamber Members


*Partial scholarships may be available for those with financial need, and can be requested within the application. Payment plan options are also available.

Sherry Sims is an accomplished human resources professional with over 20 years of experience. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles in Talent Acquisition and Diversity and Inclusion and has been a catalyst for change. Her implementation of impactful programs has significantly contributed to creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, inspiring others to follow suit.

In addition to her HR career, Sherry is also a dedicated Career Coach and the Founder of Black Career Women’s Network (BCWN), a leading national career development organization for Black women. Since its inception in 2012, BCWN has helped numerous Black women nationwide in overcoming workplace challenges, improving their professional skills, and reaching their career aspirations through professional development programs, coaching, mentoring, and resources.

Sherry has become an expert in the field of Career Development, a fact that has been widely recognized. Her expertise and advice have been featured in digital and print publications such as The New York Times, Essence Magazine, Black Enterprise, MSNBC, USNews, CNBC, and more. Recently, she was awarded the Black Business Hall of Fame by the African American Chamber of Cincinnati and recognized as one of 111 DEI Leaders to watch in 2024.
