Great Living Cincinnatians: Honorees

Celebrating the leadership, vision, tenacity, and love of community shared by the recipients of the Great Living Cincinnatian Award, presented annually by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber since 1967.

Richard T. Dugan

Awarded In 1984
1919 – 1985

Richard Dugan received his bachelors degree from Montclair State College and completed graduate programs at Williams College and Columbia University. He joined the Long Lines Department of AT&T, New York following service in the Air Force in World War II.

Dugan was appointed assistant vice president at AT&T in 1959 and worked in a number of areas within the Bell System before joining Cincinnati Bell in March 1973 as vice president and director. In 1974, he was named president and chairman of the board of Cincinnati Bell.

While a member of the Cincinnati Business Committee and the Commercial Club, Dugan also served as director for Cincinnati Bell Inc., Central Bancorporation, Multimedia Inc., SENCORP, Union Central Life Insurance Company and West Shell Inc. He also served as a director of the Central Trust Company and as a vice president of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce.

Dugan and his wife Marion raised two sons: Richard W. Dugan and William B. Dugan, and a daughter, Nancy F. Dugan.

Dugan died August 1, 1985.
