In the past seven months, we’ve undertaken a comprehensive effort to look at our entire organization and the work we do. We’ve updated our State of the Region report, showing the key indicators of our community, and how we stack up to peers. We’ve done qualitative and quantitative surveys to inform our process. We’ve met with hundreds of stakeholders and engaged in a public effort to lay the groundwork for this new framework.
Yesterday, we officially launched our new strategy – a clear and future-focused framework that will guide us for the next five years. This framework makes a clear statement about what we know must happen in this region. Simply and boldly, we must grow.
We have three strategic imperatives that will guide us: we will grow our population, grow our economy, and grow the cultural vibrancy of the region. We will achieve these imperatives because they are built on a strategic foundation: a strong business community.
We also rooted our plan in inclusion to set the tone from the outset that it would be a fundamental part of our work. As we worked through the framework, we kept coming back to the phrase “Everyone Belongs Here.” Each of these words matters:
Everyone is seen in each of our imperatives: everyone must be able to succeed in this economy, everyone must feel welcome, and everyone must be connected to our cultural offerings in this community.
Belongs – or Belonging – is fundamental to our work because it is through belonging that we can be a more inclusive and equitable community.
Here is important too. It signifies that this specific place matters. Our work has to be clearly connected to this place, our specific history, and our shared future.
Our new vision statement incorporates this framework and theme: Our vision is a growing, thriving region where everyone belongs.
With that said, I invite you to explore our full framework and the strategic imperatives in more depth. In the report you can also read about some of our new initiatives, planned measures, and our partners. It’s a clear focus on growth, and a strategy rooted in belonging. It's only possible with a collaborative spirit and with you.

As for industries, a wide variety of businesses compose this list as there are logistics, staffing, and marketing firms as well as restaurants, breweries, and a sports collectibles company.
