Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber Newsletter

Last week, I encouraged you all to go vote. This week, I’m saying thank you.

Whether you voted early or showed up Tuesday to make sure you got your sticker, thank you for being civically engaged and invested in our region. Every act of civic engagement – participating in local elections, volunteering for community initiatives, serving on boards and committees, and more – contributes to the collective well-being of our region. At the Chamber, we’re especially enthusiastic about the passage of Cincinnati Issue 22, which we endorsed and supported throughout the campaign. This will allow the City to create infrastructure jobs and close the deferred maintenance gaps without raising taxes on individuals or businesses.

At the Chamber, civic engagement is at the forefront of our growth strategy. It’s why we’re leaning into the policy and program work of our Government Affairs and Advocacy team, as well as expanding our civic and regional partnerships to support growth through the Center for Research and Data . It’s also why we’ll be investing heavily in our Leadership Center to create and sustain programs that help develop more civic-minded leaders across our region.

If this year’s election got you more interested in how policy enables growth in our region, we have two awesome engagement opportunities taking place back-to-back starting at 1 p.m. on November 27th: Columbus Connections followed by the launch of the Chamber Advocacy Council at 4 p.m. You’ll be able to connect directly with state and local elected officials. You’ll actively participate in discussions around government, politics, and policy with these elected leaders and Chamber members from companies of various sizes, industries, and backgrounds.

Attend one, or even better, both parts of the afternoon! Cultivating these relationships with public officials and having a forum to share legislative priorities on behalf of your business is truly a unique opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Median Household Income and Per Capita Personal Income | State of the Region 2023

The median household income in the United States is $69,717, placing the Cincinnati region’s median of $70,818 above the national figure, but 13th of 22 peer metros. However, the region also benefits from a lower than average cost of living, helping the median household income stretch further.

Real per capita personal income reflects the total income in an area divided by the number of residents in that area, adjusted for yearly inflation. Per capita personal income is a great indicator of economic well-being in a given area, and the Cincinnati region has consistently ranked above the national average.
