What’s better than an event dedicated to all things manufacturing? How about an event dedicated to all things manufacturing hosted at the Samuel Adams Taproom featuring Jim Koch, co-founder and Board Chairman of the Boston Beer Company?

Now that I have your attention, don’t miss out as we gather manufacturers and industry leaders from across the region at our 2023 Manufacturing Summit, presented by First Financial Bank, host sponsor Samuel Adams, and excellence sponsors VonLehman and Sheakley, on April 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Our expert panel features leaders from Samuel Adams, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Krauss-Maffei, and Batesville Products who will share insights and best practices around safety, innovation, supply chain, and talent that you can apply to your business. There will also be an exclusive facility tour and, of course, a happy hour to conclude the event with beer courtesy of the Samuel Adams Taproom.

At the Cincinnati Chamber, we often talk about “only here” experiences for our region. Providing unique opportunities for our members to hear from industry giants like Jim Koch while connecting with others in their industry across the region is a value we’re proud to offer.

We hope to see you there, but you’ll need to act fast as attendance is limited to 75. Reserve your seat now.

Labor Market Update

The past few days have brought a lot of news on the economic outlook, both locally and nationally. The United States added 311,000 jobs in February, continuing a long streak of strong employment growth. Meanwhile, local job growth numbers have been revised upward to show that the Cincinnati region saw more than twice as fast job growth in 2022 as previously thought. The region added just over 30,000 jobs in 2022 and another 1,100 in January 2023, though a tight local labor market has still kept local employment growth lower than the national rate.

On the inflation side of things, the Consumer Price Index rose 0.4 percentage points in February, or 6% year-over-year. This was in line with expectations and represents eight straight months of falling year-over-year inflation. However, things are a little more tumultuous under the hood. The index rose a half a percentage point in February if you strip out food and fuel costs, which are more volatile. That increase was larger than expected. While the Federal Reserve had been planning to raise interest rates by a percentage point between now and the middle of the year, the recent bank failures may change their calculus.
