Your Cincinnati Chamber is inspired by Cincinnati’s emerging leaders. Throughout February, our annual #MakingBlackHistory series, sponsored by Frost Brown Todd, will recognize Black leaders changing the game, today and tomorrow. Get ready to meet this year’s #MakingBlackHistory honorees.
Our 2023 honorees are leaders who go the extra mile for their community, excel in their respective fields, and open doors for future leaders coming up behind them. #MakingBlackHistory will culminate in a special tribute at the 2023 Chamber Annual Dinner - Legacy & Promise: A Celebration of Leadership, the region’s premier business event.

This will mark the fifth year of our #MakingBlackHistory program. We have been honored to feature individuals within our community, some that are recognizable - and some that are not the usual suspects. Each has redefined the standard in his or her career, creating a path for all who follow. I encourage you to take a moment to revisit the previous four years as we prepare to launch our fifth installment!

Regional Data Update: Net Migration

This week, the Center for Research & Data at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber is highlighting data on net migration to the Cincinnati region and eleven other similarly sized regions with a population between one million and three million people. For the period, July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021, the latest available data, the Cincinnati region saw net positive migration of 1,296 individuals. This included total net international migration of 1,509 and total net domestic migration of -213, highlighting the importance of international migration to our region’s economy. When you add in a net of 719 new people due to natural change (births minus deaths), our region grew by 2,268 people over the course of the year.
Looking at our migration in the context of surrounding metro areas, you can see that the Cincinnati region is in the top half of the 12 highlighted regions. While regions like Nashville are seeing large amounts of domestic migration to bolster their overall total, many regions are seeing net total negative migration. Cleveland, for example, saw a net positive international migration total of 1,177 people, but it was offset by -6,089 in domestic migration.
Be on the lookout for the release of the Center for Research & Data’s online Regional Indicators Database, coming in the next few weeks. The compiled data will demonstrate how the Cincinnati region compares to 21 peer regions based on 33 key indicators from six different categories. |
