ECONOMIC UPDATE

Last week the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) had slowed to 6.5% year-over-year in December, down from 7.1% the month before, and a peak of 9.1% in June. We have now seen six consecutive months of decreasing year-over-year inflation. What’s more, we actually experienced some deflation in the month of December, with the monthly inflation rate being -0.1%. This is welcome news for economists and should solidify the Federal Reserve’s intentions to slow interest rate increases to 25 basis points at a time. The Federal Open Market Committee is schedule to meet and consider the next interest rate increase on January 31st.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Cincinnati Region
A Data-Driven Report

At last December's Fifth Third Bank Diversity Leadership Symposium, the Cincinnati Chamber's Center for Research and Data released "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Cincinnati Region." This data-driven report identifies the Cincinnati region's positioning in diversity, equity, and inclusion compared to other peer regions. The data demonstrates areas of progress and opportunity, but also shows that the region has work to do. We hope the data will help you learn about DEI in the region and inspire you to act.
