MARCH JOBS UPDATE

Employment Change by Month - United States

Employment Change by Month - Cincinnati MSA

In March, the United States added about 236,000 jobs. This is down from a whopping 472,000 in January and 326,000 in February, but it still represents robust job growth, as the economy continues to chug along. Locally, the latest data is from February, when the Cincinnati region added 2,900 jobs, putting our region at 1.15 million total jobs. That number represents a solid 29,400 year-over-year increase, and an increase of 83,400 since the beginning of 2021. However, job growth in the Cincinnati region does still lag the nation over the past two plus years. This is partly because our labor market is tighter than an already tight national environment. For most of that time the unemployment rate in the Cincinnati region has been lower than the national unemployment rate, a great situation for job seekers, but a tough one for employers looking for talent.
