Get ready for an amazing weekend filled with delicious Asian cuisine and vibrant cultural experiences, as the Cincinnati region's biggest celebration of Asian culture and cuisine returns for its 12th year. Presented by Kroger and P&G, Asian Food Fest has continued to grow and will feature nearly 50 food vendors and over 100 talented performers throughout the weekend!
This year, Asian Food Fest received a record number of applications and had the difficult task of narrowing it down to an incredible offering of vendors that shape and define this unique cultural event. The event will feature 39 restaurants and food trucks and the fan favorite “Secret Meu” will expand to nine, making for a total of nearly 50 food vendors representing 15 Countries – by far the largest in the event’s history. Check out the more than 170 menu items that will be available this weekend here.
Comedy, cultural activities, and karaoke will highlight the entertainment line-up for Asian Food Fest 2023. The first-ever “Eastern Eats and Vocal Beats Karaoke” Contest, presented by Tokyo Kitty, will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 8:00 - 10:00 PM. I can’t wait to see the amazing vocal talent we have in our community. If you’re so brave, you can register here.
Asian Food Fest will take place on Court Street in downtown Cincinnati April 29-30. You can check out everything that’s happening by visiting asianfoodfest.org or following them on Facebook on Instagram.
The Cincinnati Chamber is proud to partner with the Asian American Cultural Association of Cincinnati to produce the event. It has been amazing to see the Asian Food Fest grow and become such a beloved event for our community. All Cincinnati Chamber events strive to bring the entire community together to celebrate as one and infuse the area with energy and excitement. These expansive events promote diversity, invigorate the community, drive local economic growth, and foster a sense of community spirit. I hope you’ll join us this weekend!
Last week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report and the topline number of 5% year-over-year price growth was very positive. That 5% represents a one percentage point decrease from the February figure and a trend in the right direction toward the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. The monthly increase in the CPI index was 0.1%, down from 0.4% in February and 0.5% in January. The Federal Open Market Committee will meet again on May 2nd to decide whether they should continue to raise interest rates. The Effective Federal Funds Rate currently stands at 4.83%, and the expectation is that the FOMC will raise their target rate to a range between 5% and 5.25%. The FOMC has raised the target rate nine times since early 2022 and, based on their own forecast for peak interest rates, this may be the last interest rate hike we see in 2023. Markets have reacted to the possibility of a soft landing for the economy, and the S&P 500 is up more than 7% so far this year.
